Les gîtes du Solitary

  • The fame of the Gorges de l'Ardèche or Chassezac are no longer to be done. These places allow everyone an unforgettable descent by canoe.

    28km. from Le Solitary, there are numerous runs between 4 and 30 km, which will suggest activities allowing you to admire the majestic sites of cliffs several hundred meters high, some astonishing remains and welcoming river banks.

    hurtle down the plentiful torrents of often turbulent water into deep holes (the local name is gouilles). You will be led by an agreeable and competent leader. There is no doubt about it; your day canyoning will leave you with undying memories.

  • Also in this domain, the Ardeche offers plenty of sites, each one more majestic than the last. There are dozens of sites, of all grade s of difficulty, available to lovers of this sport.

    We would point out climbs like those of the Mazet on the cliffs dominating the Chassezac, near Casteljeau, or those of Courpatasse or Sevegnier between two and seven km. from Le Solitary. Without speaking of the prestigious climbing tracks opened up in the Gorges of the Ardeche.

  • For the youngest, the children and teenagers, there are numerous Adventure parks to make them happy. Several metres above the ground kids can prove their skill in getting over suspended bridges or unbalanced planks. They will discover the marvellous animal world in the Safari park at Peaugres

    Some kilometres from 'Le Solitary',you will find the 'Indian Forest' at Privas, 'Ardeche Adventure' at Jaujac, 'Adventure Camp' at Vals, 'Green stem Park' at Vallon Pont d'Arc.

  • More than 2000 caves have been listed in the sub-soil of the Ardeche limestone plateau. The majority of them have still not been explored. Perhaps you will be the one to discover a new cave like «Chauvet»;
